Chakum Chukum

Our place is at Indira Nagar 901/2, right in the middle of all the noise and traffic that comes with this part of town. It gets pretty loud outside with the horns and the people shouting, but we’ve learned to tune it out. The shop itself is quite simple. We have some basic counters and a few stools that have seen better days. Every morning, we start by chopping vegetables and getting the dough ready. It is repetitive work, but it has to be done if we want to be ready for the lunch crowd. We don’t have a big menu or anything complicated. We just do a few things and try to keep them consistent. The kitchen is small and gets very smoky when the grills are going, so we keep the back door open as much as we can. We aren't really interested in being the trendiest spot on the block. We just want to make sure people get their food quickly so they can get back to their jobs. Sometimes we run out of napkins or the change drawer gets low, and one of us has to run out to the shop next door to get some help. It’s just a normal day-to-day business. We keep the lights on and the food moving. If you’re around Indira Nagar, you’ll probably find us by the smell of the charcoal and the sound of the fans.
