Burhani Sweets Shop Mart

Our shop, Burhani Sweets Shop Mart, is a bit hidden away. We are on the 3rd floor of a building in Shathappa Lane, which is off Sadar Patrappa Road. The numbers are 21/22. It’s not the easiest place to find if you aren't looking for it. You have to walk down the lane and then come up the stairs. Because we are on the 3rd floor, it’s a bit quieter than the street level, but carrying heavy boxes up and down can be a lot of work. We make various kinds of sweets right here in the back. The smell of sugar and ghee usually fills the whole floor. It’s a small operation. We don't have a big storefront with glass windows. It's more of a workshop where we also sell to people who know we are here. Most of our customers have been buying from us for a long time. They don't mind the climb. We spend most of our time in the back prep area. It gets quite warm with the stoves going all day long. Sometimes the lane downstairs gets so blocked with carts and people that it’s hard to even get to the door. That's just how life is in this part of the city. We keep things simple and just focus on making the sweets the way we always have. We don't have fancy packaging, just plain boxes to carry your sweets home in. It's just us and our sweets.
