Anand Sweets & Savouries

We have been here in Bangalore GPO 8 for quite a while now. Anand Sweets & Savouries is just a small place where we make the usual things people like to snack on. The morning starts early with the smell of sugar syrup and frying oil. It gets busy around the holidays, but most days it's just the regulars coming in for a box of laddoos or some spicy mixture. We don’t have fancy seating, just the counters. Some people stop by after work to pick up something for their kids. We try to keep things fresh every day because nobody likes stale snacks. Sometimes the labels aren't perfectly straight on the boxes, but we do our work. It’s a lot of manual labor, stirring big pots and packing things by hand. My uncle started this and we just kept it going. The floor gets a bit sticky in the afternoon when we're busy making batches of jalebis. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in the city. Just a place where you can get decent sweets that taste like they should. The weather in Bangalore changes, but the kitchen stays hot. We know most of the people who walk through the door by their first names. It’s just how things are around here. We close up when the trays are empty or it gets late. There’s always more to do tomorrow morning before the sun comes up.
