Sunday Science School

We are located at No.34 in the 17th Ward of Kampli, over in Bellary. Sunday Science School isn't like a regular school that you go to every day. We mainly focus on the weekends, like the name suggests. It is a place for kids who actually want to do things with their hands instead of just reading out of a textbook. We have tables set up with different kits and tools. Sometimes we are working with magnets, other times we might be looking at plants or building small circuits. It gets a bit messy because doing science usually involves some spills or scraps of paper everywhere. The building is simple, just a few rooms where we can spread out our materials. We aren't trying to turn everyone into a genius; we just think it is good for kids to see how things work in real life. Most of the kids come from around Kampli, and they seem to enjoy the break from their normal school routine. It’s a very hands-on environment. There is a lot of talking and asking questions, which we like. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us who know a bit about science and like showing it to others. It’s a practical, local spot. We keep things pretty low-key and focus on the projects we have planned for that day. It is just a different way to spend a Sunday morning in Bellary.
