About Good Shephered School – Education in Bellary
Good Shephered School is way out in Moka, in the Bellary district. It’s a quiet area, and the school is a big part of the local community there. We don't have the big city buildings or the paved roads everywhere, but we have plenty of fresh air and space. The school is a simple structure where the kids from the village and nearby areas come to study. You’ll see them walking along the dusty paths in the morning with their bags. We have a few trees in the yard where people sit during the lunch break. The classrooms are basic with just the essentials. Bellary can get very dusty and hot, so we are always cleaning the windows and floors. The teachers are dedicated people who often travel a long way to get to Moka. We don't have a lot of high-tech equipment, just books and a few old maps on the walls. It’s a place where everyone knows each other’s families and what’s going on in the village. We handle the usual problems like kids losing their pencils or goats wandering too close to the gate. It’s a slow-paced life here, and we just focus on the daily lessons. The bell is just an old piece of metal we hit with a hammer, but it gets the job done. It’s a real, local place for the kids here. Sometimes the wind blows quite hard and we have to shut the heavy wooden doors to keep the dust out. We just keep going.
