Jindal South West Steel Limited

I’m Shabharish M, and I stay and work out of room BH-2/26 in Vijay Vittal Nagar. This is inside Toranagallu, which falls under the Sandur taluk in the Bellary district. If you work for Jindal South West Steel Limited, you probably know this area well. It’s a place built for workers. My room is where I handle a lot of the coordination and paperwork. It’s not a big corporate headquarters, just a small space where I can focus on the numbers. The sounds of the steel mill are always there in the background, like a constant hum that you eventually stop hearing. Living where you work means you’re always on call. If there’s a problem with a shipment at two in the morning, I’m the one who hears about it. We don’t have a marketing department here. It’s just me and a few other guys making sure the steel gets from point A to point B. The air in Toranagallu always smells a bit like iron, and the ground is stained that reddish-brown color from the ore. It’s a rugged place to live, but there’s a sense of pride in being part of something so large. I spend my evenings walking around the township, just to get some fresh air away from the desk. We don’t make big promises or use fancy words. We just make sure the job gets done every day, rain or shine.
