We are located in Basahi, which is a village in the Begusarai district. The full name we use is Cheria Bariyarpur Farmers Producer Company Limited, but that is a bit long for us to say every day. Our office is actually inside the house of Rajesh Kumar, who is the son of Darik Mahto. It is a local home in Basahi with the pin code 848202. We are just a group of farmers from around the Cheria Bariyarpur block. Begusarai is a place where almost everyone depends on the land, and we are no different. We started this company to help ourselves get organized and maybe get better prices for what we grow. Most days you will not find us sitting inside the house; we are usually out checking on the wheat or the maize. We grow whatever the season allows us to. It is hard work and the sun can be quite brutal in this part of Bihar during the summer months. We do not have a fancy reception desk or any signs. If you come by, you just look for Rajesh’s house and someone will be around to talk. We handle everything from buying seeds to selling the final produce. It is a real community effort. Some of us have been farming for forty years, while others are younger. We do not have a mission statement on the wall. We just want to farm and take care of our families.
