Jakhni Farmer Producer Company Limited is based out of Kauleswar in the Jakhini Basti area. It’s a quiet part of Basti where most people have spent their whole lives working the dirt. We aren't a big company from the city. Instead, we are just a group of people from this locality trying to handle our farming business together. The office is at house number 12. It’s a simple setup. When we started this, we didn't have any grand ideas about changing the world, we just wanted to make sure the farmers here had a way to get things done. Farming in Uttar Pradesh has its ups and downs, especially with the costs of everything going up lately. We spend a lot of time talking to each other about what to plant next or where to sell the grain. You’ll find us sitting together most mornings before the sun gets too hot. It is mostly local faces you will see here. We don't use a lot of big words or complicated charts. We just look at the crops and the market and try to figure out the best path forward for the group. It is a lot of responsibility, but since we all live here in Jakhini, we have to look out for one another. That is just how it is in a small place like this. We keep our paperwork in order and try to stay organized as best as we can. It is a slow process, but we manage.
