Saunghat Farmer Producer Company Limited is basically just us villagers from Kusmaha and around Basti Sadar. We got together because doing everything solo was not working out. Harish Chandra handles the paperwork and things at his spot near Munderwa. We spend most of our time in the fields, not in an office. This part of Uttar Pradesh has decent soil, but getting the right seeds and selling the harvest is always a headache. So, we formed this company to see if we could do better as a group. It is not some big corporation. It is just a bunch of neighbors. We talk about the crops over tea and figure out who needs what for the next season. Some of us grow wheat, others do rice or sugarcane depending on the year. It gets very hot here in the summer, which makes the work slow, but we manage. We aren't trying to change the world or anything. We just want to get by and maybe save a little money by buying things together. If you are looking for us, we are right there in the village. It’s a quiet place. Most people here know each other anyway. We started this because we needed a way to be heard at the markets. It’s been a learning process for everyone involved. Sometimes we argue about how to do things, but we usually figure it out and get back to the work that matters.
