Dubula Farmer Producer Company Limited is right there at the Dubula Chauraha, near the Barharpur post office in Basti. Being at a crossroads means there is always someone passing by or stopping in for a chat. Harraiya is the block we are in, and it’s a good community. We are just a group of farmers who decided to set up this company to handle our produce together. The office is a small shop-like space right on the corner of the road. It gets pretty dusty with all the traffic and the wind, but it’s a good spot because everyone knows where we are located. We handle things like rice and sugarcane, which are big crops in this part of Basti. We don't have any polished marketing materials or a fancy logo. If you want to know what we have, you just look at the samples we have sitting on the wooden counter. We spend our days coordinating with the different villages nearby to see who has what ready for sale. It’s a lot of shouting over the noise of the tractors and trucks passing outside. We are just local people trying to make a living from the land. There is no corporate vibe here at all. Most of the time, we are just drinking tea and waiting for the next load to arrive at the crossroads. It is a busy life.
