Gayatri Engineering Works

You can find us at Plot No. I-114 in the GIDC Estate over in V.U. Nagar. We are right across from Sab Chem in Phase 4. It’s a big estate, so people sometimes get lost looking for the specific plot number. We’ve got a sign out front, but it’s a bit faded from the sun. The workshop is where we spend most of our time. It’s filled with lathes and various bits of metal and scrap. We aren't much for cleaning up until Saturday afternoon when the week is done. My brother and I started this quite a few years back. We didn't have much then, and we still keep things pretty simple now. The floor is stained with oil and there's a layer of dust on the windows, but the machines run well. That's the important part. We don't have a website or anything like that; we just talk to people who come by or call us on the phone. Sometimes it’s slow, and we just sit outside and watch the trucks go by. Other times we are working through the night to fix something that broke for a neighbor. It’s steady work. We don't try to be anything we aren't. We just run Gayatri Engineering Works and try to do a decent job for whoever needs us. It's a living and we're used to the heat of the shop by now.
