You can find Isher Singh & Hardeep Singh Rice Mills over at Shop No-89 in the New Grain Market. Being near the F.C.I. Godown means there is always a lot of movement around here. It is a busy part of town, and the New Grain Market is rarely quiet. We are usually at the shop early in the morning, making sure everything is ready for the day's arrivals. The space is a bit cramped because of all the bags piled up, but we make it work. It is a different kind of life being in the market compared to the mills out in the villages. You see a lot of faces every day, from drivers to government inspectors. Hardeep and Isher started this place to handle the local trade, and we have just kept it going. There is a lot of paperwork to deal with, especially being so close to the godown, but we handle it. Sometimes the dust from the market gets to be a bit much, but you just drink some water and keep moving. We don't have any big mission statements written on the walls. We just want to make sure the grain is moved correctly and the accounts are right. It is a practical business. Most days are long, and by the time we shut the shop at night, we are pretty tired, but that is the trade.
