We've been here at 294, Green Land for quite a while now. Most people know us because we’re right across from Fortis Escort Hospital on the Majitha-Batala Road. It’s a busy spot, especially with all the traffic coming off the bypass. Our work is pretty straightforward—we take fresh produce and dry it out. It sounds simple, but there's a lot of watching temperatures and making sure things don't get ruined. Some days the machines are loud and the air smells like onions or garlic, depending on what we're processing that morning. We started this because we saw so much good food going to waste in the markets around here. Now, we spend our time talking to farmers and sorting through crates. The office isn't much to look at, just a desk with too many papers and a tea kettle that’s always on. We don't have a big fancy team, just a few of us who know how the equipment works and how to get things packed right. It gets hot in the summer, but we keep at it because the orders keep coming in. It’s good work, even if it’s repetitive. We just try to keep the quality decent and make sure the trucks leave on time. If you ever drive past the hospital and see a bunch of crates out front, that’s probably us just getting started for the day.
