God Rice Mills

Our place, God Rice Mills, is situated on Mehraj Road. We are right near Jai Tulsi School, so we hear the bell ring every day. It’s a good landmark for people looking for us. The mill itself is quite loud when the rollers are going. We deal with paddy all day long. Sometimes the wind blows the chaff toward the school, which isn't great, but we try to manage it. The gate is usually open from early morning. We start before the sun is fully up during the heavy months. Mehraj Road is a decent stretch for the trucks to pull in and out. Inside, it’s mostly concrete and heavy metal. We have the cleaning section and the de-husking area. It’s a lot of noise and vibration. My hands are usually dry from handling the sacks. We don't have a fancy website or anything like that. People just know where we are. We've got the big weighing scale near the entrance. Every load has to be checked. It's honest work. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, like when it rains and we have to cover everything fast with tarps. The school kids walk past and peek inside sometimes. It’s just a normal part of the neighborhood here. We stay busy with the local farmers and the traders. That’s about it for God Rice Mills. We just focus on getting the rice through the machinery and into the bags without making too much of a mess on the road.
