Baba Budha Rice Mills

The mill is situated right on G.T. Road, and being near the railway station means there is always something going on. You can hear the trains pulling in and out all day long, which sort of blends in with the noise of our own engines. It’s a busy corner of the world. We have bags piled up in the yard and people coming and going constantly. Sometimes the traffic on the main road makes it tough for the tractors to turn in, but we manage. Inside, it’s mostly just the steady rhythm of the machines. It isn’t a quiet place by any means. We’ve got some old equipment that needs a lot of looking after, but it does the job. Most of the staff live nearby, so we all know each other's families and what’s happening in the town. When the rain comes, we have to hurry to cover everything up. It’s a lot of physical labor, lifting and stacking until your back aches. We don’t really have any corporate meetings or big plans; we just look at what needs to be milled today and we do it. The dust gets everywhere, even in your tea if you aren't careful. It’s just a regular workplace where people show up, work hard, and go home to their families when the sun goes down. It is not always easy, but we are used to the grind. No one expects anything fancy here.
