Akshit Rice Mill

We spend a lot of time here at Akshit Rice Mill. It’s located on Maanwala Road, right over near A.P. Solvex. Most days start early before the sun is even fully up. You can hear the machines humming from down the road. It’s a busy spot. We handle a lot of grain throughout the week. Sometimes the dust gets everywhere, but that’s just how it goes with this kind of work. The trucks come and go all day long. We know most of the drivers by name now. It isn’t fancy here. It’s just a mill where we get the job done. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re too busy for that. People stop by and ask for directions because we're so close to A.P. Solvex. We tell them where to turn. It feels like we’ve been on this road forever. The seasons change, the weather gets hot, then it gets cold, and we just keep processing the rice. We have some old equipment that still runs better than the new stuff sometimes. It’s loud inside when everything is running at once. You have to shout to be heard over the hulling machines. When evening comes, things quiet down a bit and we lock up. It’s honest work. We don't have a big office or anything. Just the mill and the yard out front. It works for us and the people who come here. We just stay focused on the work at hand.
