Taj Tent House

At Taj Tent House, our work is mostly physical and happens outdoors or in the back of the shop. We are located in Adarsh Nagar on Farsh Gali, right near Pali Bazar. The shop itself is mostly a storage space for all the heavy poles, folded canvases, and bundles of ropes. Farsh Gali is quite narrow, so when we are loading the truck for a job, we have to be careful not to block the whole street. Most of the day is spent checking the fabric for any tears or cleaning the plastic chairs we rent out. The smell of the heavy cloth and the metal poles is something you get used to after a while. When there is a big wedding or a local event, we are up before the sun to get everything moved to the site. The work is hard on the hands and the back, but it's what we do. We have a small corner in the front with a desk and some old ledgers where we keep track of the bookings. The walls are mostly bare, just some hooks for tools and spare ropes. In the afternoons, if it’s not too busy, we sit on the folded tents and have some tea. People from Pali Bazar often walk by and wave. It’s a steady kind of life, even if it’s tiring. We just try to keep all the equipment in good shape for the next person who needs it for their family gathering.
