J K Tent House

J K Tent House is located right by the railway phatak on Srinagar Road. It is near the Chungi Chowki, so there is always noise from the trains and the traffic going past. We have been here at this spot for a long time. Mostly it is just us managing the tents, the bamboo poles, and the heavy carpets. Every day starts early because there is always something to load onto the carts. We have a lot of stuff shoved into the back of the shop and it can get pretty messy when we are busy. Sometimes the wind picks up and we have to make sure everything is tied down tight so nothing blows away. It is a lot of physical labor, lifting those heavy rolls of fabric and stacking chairs. We don't really do anything too flashy, just the usual things people need for a gathering or a small street function. People stop by when they are crossing the tracks and ask about prices or if we have enough chairs for fifty people. We just give them a straight answer. Some days are slow and we just sit outside watching the cars go by, but during the wedding season, we hardly have time to eat. We have gotten used to the train whistles by now. It is just part of being here. We try to keep our equipment in decent shape so it looks okay when it is all set up for someone.
