Vasant Transformers

Vasant Transformers is located at 20 Sukrut Indl Estate which is near the Memco Char Rasta on Naroda Road. This area is always full of traffic and people going to different workshops. Our shed is filled with the smell of transformer oil and the sound of metal being moved by the cranes. We work on different sizes of transformers and it is heavy and greasy work most of the time. You usually end up with oil on your clothes by the time lunch rolls around. We don't have a fancy showroom or a place to display anything. It is just a practical workshop with benches and tools for winding coils. Some of the men here have been working with us since they were very young. We know each other well and just get on with the tasks that need doing. Naroda Road is a busy place so there is always something going on outside our gate. We keep a small stove for making tea in the corner of the shop. Sometimes people bring in old units that are broken and we have to take them apart to see what went wrong inside. It involves a lot of copper wire and heavy steel plates. We don't use much technology for the business part. We mostly rely on our experience and the same tools we have used for many years.
