Agashiye Restaurant

Our restaurant is part of the House of Mangaldas Girdhardas in Lal Darwaja. We are right opposite the Sidi Saiyad Jali, which is a famous spot here in Ahmedabad. Being in an old building like this means there is always something that needs fixing or painting. It’s not like a modern glass building. We spend a lot of our time making sure the space is ready for people to sit and eat. The kitchen is always a busy place, with a lot of noise and steam. We don’t really have a big marketing team or anything. It’s just us, the cooks and the servers, trying to make things work. The location is very central, so we see all sorts of people walking by. Sometimes the traffic outside is very loud, but that’s Ahmedabad for you. We just keep our heads down and focus on the daily tasks. It’s a lot of routine stuff like checking the ingredients and making sure the tables are set. We’ve been here at 380001 for a long time, and we’ve seen the city change quite a bit from our windows. We don't try to be anything we’re not. We are just a local place where you can get a meal in an old house. It’s simple, and that is how we like it. We hope the fans are working on hot days and that the food is hot on cold ones. That's our life.
