Tally Oprater

You can find me working as a Tally Oprater at 1817/2, which is right opposite Moti Pole. It is very close to Sanskar School in the Dariyapur area of Ahmedabad. This part of the city is very old and the lanes can be quite narrow. You have to be careful if you are driving a scooter through here. The building is an old structure, like most things in Dariyapur. It has a lot of history but it is a bit cramped inside. I spend my day sitting at the computer doing the entries. Since we are near the school, I can hear the children playing during their recess time. Moti Pole is a busy little spot with people always coming and going. The address 1817/2 is tucked away a little bit, but the locals can point you in the right direction if you get lost. It is not a modern office building with air conditioning and elevators. We just have a ceiling fan and a window that looks out onto the street. Sometimes the tea man comes by with snacks in the afternoon. It is a very traditional way of working. I have been at this spot for a while now and I know the rhythm of the neighborhood. Dariyapur is a crowded place but it has a lot of life in it. I just focus on the screen and get the numbers right for the day.
