Spices Of Awadh

Spices Of Awadh is on the ground floor of Jaswant Chambers at Lal Darwaja in Ahmedabad. We are right opposite the Sidi Saiyad Masjid and next to the Central Bank. If you know that part of the city, you know it’s one of the busiest and most historic areas. There’s always a crowd near the masjid, and the streets are filled with people and vendors. Our place is right in the middle of all that chaos. The building, Jaswant Chambers, has been around for a long time and has that old Ahmedabad feel to it. Inside the restaurant, it’s a bit of a relief from the heat and the noise of the street. We didn't do any fancy interior design; we just put in some tables and made sure the kitchen was big enough to handle the orders. It gets very busy during the day because of all the offices and banks around here. We see a lot of bank employees and shopkeepers who come in for a quick lunch. The smell of the spices usually drifts out onto the sidewalk, which probably brings more people in than any sign could. We don't have a mission statement or a bunch of goals written on the wall. We just want to get the food out on time and make sure the place is clean. It’s hard work, especially when the city is buzzing outside, but we wouldn't have it any other way.
