Kirti Masala Stores

Our store is tucked away in Ghee Bazar, right on the Kalupur Tower Road. If you know Kalupur, you know how packed these streets can get with people and carts. We have been in this spot for a long time, right in the middle of all the noise and the smells of the market. It’s a small shop, but it’s filled from floor to ceiling with jars and bags of different spices. The air always has a bit of a kick to it from the peppers. Most days, we are busy weighing out small portions for customers who walk in from the street. It’s a lot of hand-weighing and tying up packets with string. We don't use fancy scales or big computers. My father started things here and now we just carry it on. The old wooden shelves are a bit worn down, but they hold everything just fine. You have to watch your step because the lanes outside are narrow and there’s always a rickshaw trying to get past. We know most of the other shopkeepers around here by name. It’s a tight community in the old city. We don't do much in the way of advertising because people just know we are here by the tower. We keep the doors open and wait for the regulars to stop by for their weekly supplies. It's a simple life.
