Our office is right there in Hirabhai Market, just above Radheyshyam Chavana. If you know Kalupur, you know how crowded it gets around Dhanlakshmi Market. We have been doing catering from this spot for years. It is a bit of a climb up the stairs, but we are always busy with phone calls and people coming in to plan their events. Most of the time we are out at different venues across Ahmedabad, setting up the stoves and getting the cooks ready. The market area is always noisy, with trucks unloading and people shouting, but that is just Kalupur life. We handle all the food arrangements ourselves. Sometimes it is a small family gathering and other times it is a big wedding. It is hard work, especially in the heat, but we have a good team that stays with us. We do not spend money on big ads or anything like that. People just know us from the food they ate at someone else's party. We keep our kitchen equipment clean and ready to go at a moment's notice. It is a family thing, really. My uncle started it and we just carried it on. Every morning starts with checking the vegetable prices and making sure the supplies are coming in on time. It is a long day every day, and sometimes we are working through the night to get everything ready for an early morning function. We just keep the cooking simple and traditional.
