I run my Own Groccery Store at B/75, Jashanagar, which is right near Jantanagar in Ahmedabad. The shop is on Ramol Road and sits directly opposite the Jain Derasar. Having the temple right there is great because everyone uses it as a landmark to find me. I have been selling groceries here for several years. It is a small shop, so I have to stack the bags of flour and containers of oil all the way up to the ceiling to fit everything in. I spend my days weighing out grains, stocking the shelves, and talking to the regular customers who live in the surrounding houses. Most of the people who come in are my neighbors and I have seen their kids grow up over the years. I do not have any fancy scanners or a computer system. I just use a calculator and keep a handwritten diary for my accounts. It is a lot of work to keep everything tidy because the dust from the road always finds its way inside. My family helps me out during the busy hours in the morning and evening when everyone is shopping for dinner. We do not do any home delivery or have a website. People just walk in, tell me what they need, and we have a bit of a chat while I pack their bags. It is a simple, local business that keeps me busy from dawn till dusk.
