Hotel Industry

This is the Le Meridien location in Ahmedabad, right near the Nehru Bridge in Khanpur. It’s a very central spot, so we see a lot of the city’s life moving past our doors every day. The Sabarmati river is just right there, and you can hear the traffic on the bridge almost all the time. We just call it the Hotel Industry office because that is what we are focused on here. It’s a big building, but for those of us working in the back offices, it feels much smaller. We spend our time managing guest lists, checking supplies, and making sure the kitchen has what it needs. It’s a lot of running around. The lobby might look very polished, but behind the scenes, it’s just us in regular uniforms or office clothes, trying to stay on top of everything. We have some staff who have been here for twenty years and others who are just starting out. We don't really have a mission or anything like that; we just want the guests to have a bed to sleep in and a decent meal. Sometimes the elevators act up or we run out of clean towels, and we have to scramble to fix it. It’s a busy, noisy, and sometimes tiring place to work, but it’s what we do. We’re just a local team in the heart of Gujarat. The sunset views over the river are probably the best part of being here.
