Gujarat Industry Development Corporation

Our office is in Gandhinagar, over at Dharmanand, Plot No. 1259/1 in Sector 3 A. It’s a quiet area compared to some of the bigger cities around here. We deal with a lot of the industrial side of things for Gujarat. People come to us when they need land for their factories or have questions about setting up a business. The office itself is pretty straightforward. We have rows of desks and a lot of large maps pinned to the walls showing the different industrial estates. It’s not a very modern place, but it works for what we need to do. The ceiling fans make a steady humming sound that fills the rooms. Most of us have been working here for years, so we know the procedures inside out. We spend a lot of time checking documents and meeting with people who have all sorts of plans for new projects. Sometimes the stack of files on the desk feels like it never gets smaller. We take our breaks in the small courtyard when the weather is nice. Gandhinagar is a green city, and we have a few trees right outside the window. We aren't here to make big promises. We just handle the land and infrastructure side of things so that the industries can get going. It's a lot of administrative work, but it’s important for the state’s growth, and we just keep at it every day.
