Ghummat Restaurant

Our little eating spot is tucked away behind the ONGC Head Quarters in the Sabarmati area. We are located at number 9 in the Veljibhai S Bungalow, which is a bit of a landmark for people who live around here. Being near Hotel Janpath helps folks find us, but mostly it’s the locals who walk over for a meal. The kitchen stays pretty warm throughout the afternoon and evening because the stoves are always going. We don’t have fancy uniforms or a big flashy sign out front, just some tables and chairs where people can sit and eat. It gets a bit crowded during the lunch hour when the office workers from nearby come over. You can usually hear the clinking of plates and the sound of someone chopping vegetables in the back. We try to keep the place tidy, but with so many people coming in and out, there’s always a bit of a mess to clean up. Running Ghummat Restaurant keeps us on our feet all day long. Sometimes we run out of certain ingredients by evening, so someone has to run to the market quickly. It’s just how things go in a small kitchen like ours. We don’t have a big corporate team, just a few of us who know how to cook and serve. It’s a simple life here in Sabarmati, and we are just glad to have a roof over our heads and food on the stove.
