Counter Staff

Our spot is in Sardarnagar at A/1 Old Maharathi Society. If you are looking for us, we are right behind the big water tank of the society, which is the easiest way to tell people where to go. Being counter staff here means you are always on your feet. It is a busy neighborhood in Ahmedabad, and there is always something happening on the street. We get all kinds of people coming by the counter. Some are in a huge hurry and others want to stay and chat for ten minutes about the weather or the traffic. We don't have a big corporate manual on how to talk to people; we just say hello and help them with what they need. The shop area isn’t very large, so things can get a bit cramped when it is peak hours. We have a small fan behind the counter that doesn’t do much, but we are used to it. The society is an older one, so the walls have some character and the floors are a bit worn down from everyone walking in and out over the years. We take turns handling the shift, making sure the place is open when it is supposed to be. It is a straightforward job. We do not make a big deal out of it. We just show up, do the work at 382475, and then head home once the shutters go down for the night.
