Caf Mocha

You can find us at 1/5 Jabel Chawl in Vikhroli Village. Mumbai is a very crowded place, and Vikhroli is no different, especially once you get into the village area. Our little cafe is tucked away inside the chawl, and it is a far cry from the big malls or those high-end places you see in South Mumbai. We have a small kitchen space and a few tables where people can sit down for a bit. It is usually a mix of locals from the village and people passing through on their way to the station. We spend most of our time making tea, coffee, and whatever basic snacks people want that day. The hum of the old fridge and the sound of the traffic outside is the background noise of our lives here. It is often quite sweaty and cramped inside, but that is just how life in a Mumbai chawl goes for everyone. We do not have fancy uniforms or a big menu with words that are hard to pronounce. We just serve what we know how to make well. Some days the heavy rains make it hard for anyone to come in, and we just sit there cleaning the counters over and over. Other days it is so busy we can barely keep up with the tea orders. It is just a small business trying to get by in a very big city. We know the regulars by name and they know us.
