24 Parganas South North Scheduled Caste And Tribe Primary School Headmaster S Association

Our association is based over in Shahibaug, Ahmedabad. It’s a bit of a specific group, mostly made up of headmasters from primary schools. We deal with schools that serve scheduled caste and tribe communities, specifically those connected to the 24 Parganas regions. Even though we are here in Ahmedabad, our focus is on those schools and the people running them. Our office isn't much to look at. It’s just a couple of rooms with old wooden desks and stacks of papers that never seem to get smaller. We spend a lot of time talking about the day-to-day problems in the schools. Things like how to get more books for the kids or dealing with the latest government forms that nobody quite understands. We aren't a big professional organization with a PR team. It’s just us, the headmasters, trying to support each other. We drink a lot of tea and have long meetings that sometimes don't end until late in the evening. There’s a lot of talk about budgets and fixing leaky roofs in the school buildings. It’s hard work and it can be frustrating, but we have been doing it for years. Most of us are close to retirement but we still show up. We don’t have a website or anything like that. We just use our phones and meet in person to get things sorted out. It’s just how we keep the schools going for the students.
