Shree Mahalaxmi Ceramic Industries

Our place, Shree Mahalaxmi Ceramic Industries, is located right near the railway station in Hashanpar. You can hear the trains whistling and the tracks rumbling all day long while we work with the clay. We make various ceramic items, mostly focusing on the basic stuff that local builders and households need. It’s a wet and messy business, especially when we’re mixing the raw materials. The floor is usually covered in slip and scraps of clay. We have a couple of kilns that we’ve built ourselves over the years. They aren't the most efficient, but they get the job done. We don't have a big team—just a few of us who know the rhythm of the work. We don't use any fancy advertising; being near the station means enough people see us as they pass by. Sometimes we stack the finished goods outside so people can see what’s available. It’s not a polished showroom, just a dusty yard. We deal with the heat from the kilns and the humidity in the air every day. If a batch doesn't come out right, we just break it down and start over. That’s just part of the process. We don't make any big promises, we just try to have enough stock ready for whoever stops in. It’s just a regular local industry in Hashanpar.
