Wankaner is a tough place to work in the summer months. We are located near the PGVCL sub station, which is a good landmark because everyone knows it. This part of Morvi Matel is just one factory after another. It’s a landscape of industrial sheds and heavy machinery. We spend our days out on the floor or in the yard. The granite slabs are heavy and you have to be very careful with them or they’ll chip on the edges. We spend a lot of time inspecting the surfaces for any flaws or marks. It’s a lot of walking back and forth on the concrete. The sound of the cutters is something you just get used to after a while, though it’s loud. We have a small cabin for the paperwork, but it gets incredibly hot in there even with the fan going full speed. Most of our workers have been here a long time, so we don’t have to say much to get the day started anymore. We just know what needs doing. The dust from the stone gets everywhere, no matter how much we sweep the floors. It’s just part of the environment in this industrial zone. We aren't trying to be the biggest company, we just want to get through the daily orders without too much trouble. Sometimes we sit out by the gate when the air finally cools.
