Vinayaga Collective Farming Producer Company Limited is really just a group of us who decided that working together was better than working alone. It’s a small operation. We don’t have a lot of bells and whistles. The office is just a room where we keep our logs and meet up to talk about the season. Farming in this part of the country is hard work, and the weather doesn't always go our way. We spend a lot of time worrying about water and the cost of everything we need to plant. Most of the guys here have been doing this since they were kids. We didn’t go to some big business school; we learned everything out in the dirt. We try to keep things simple. If there's a problem with a crop, we talk it out and see what the others think. It’s not a polished business by any means. There’s always some dust on the furniture and the paperwork is usually stacked in piles. But we know what we’re doing when it comes to the land. We just want to get a fair price for what we grow and keep the farms going for another year. It’s steady work, nothing more, nothing less. We aren't looking for fame, just a way to stay steady.
