Vajura Farmers Producer Company Limited is based out of Pallimadam in Thiruchuli. If you’ve ever been to this part of Virudhunagar, you know it’s mostly about the land and the people who work it. Our address at 1/640 is basically where we all gather to sort out what’s happening with the crops. Being a farmer producer company means we spend a lot of time talking to the neighbors and the local guys who have been growing stuff for years. It’s not a fancy operation. We have a lot of dust on our shoes and the office usually smells like the outdoors. We deal with whatever the season throws at us. Sometimes it’s too dry, other times we’re worried about the market prices, but we just stick together. We aren't trying to be some big corporate entity; we are just a group of people from the village trying to make sure our produce gets where it needs to go without too much trouble. It gets pretty loud during the harvest when everyone is trying to get their stuff moved. We have a lot of meetings that probably last longer than they should because everyone has an opinion on how things should be done. It’s a messy process sometimes, organizing so many different people, but it’s the only way we know how to work. We just stay focused on the day-to-day stuff and keep the books as clear as we can.
