Ponni Vanam Farmer Producer Company Limited

We operate out of 3/624 M A S House, which is on Mohamedhiyar Street in Kariyamangalam, specifically in the Vikkirapandiyam area. Ponni Vanam Farmer Producer Company Limited is basically a group of local farmers who decided to come together. We figured it was better to work as one than to try and do everything alone. The M A S House is where we all meet up to talk about the harvest and what prices are looking like. It’s not a fancy corporate headquarters, just a room with some chairs and a lot of talk about crops. Kariyamangalam is a place where everyone knows everyone else’s business anyway. We focus on what we grow, and we try to make sure everyone in our group gets a fair deal. We deal with the day-to-day problems like pests or the lack of rain. It isn't always pretty, and we definitely make mistakes sometimes, but we are learning as we go. Our name, Ponni Vanam, reminds us of the green fields we want to see. Being a producer company means we have a lot of paperwork to deal with now, which none of us really likes, but it’s necessary. You’ll mostly find us out in the fields of Vikkirapandiyam rather than sitting in the office on Mohamedhiyar Street. We are just a bunch of farmers trying to do right by each other and the land we’ve lived on for so many years now.
