P U P School

You can find us at 43 E on Perumal Koil Street in Thiruparkadal. It is a small place, really. Being in Vellore, we are part of a very old and established area. The school itself is quite modest. We do not have many rooms, so everyone knows each other pretty well. It is the kind of place where the neighbor's dog might wander into the yard occasionally. We focus on the basics here because that is what is needed for the younger children. Most of the kids walk to school from the surrounding houses. We have been here long enough that we have seen the street change quite a bit, but the school stays more or less the same. There is a certain rhythm to the day that we all follow. We start with the morning assembly and then get straight into the books. It can get a bit dusty in the summer, but we manage. The staff is small, so we all end up doing a bit of everything, whether it is teaching or fixing a broken chair or cleaning a desk. We are not trying to change the world, just trying to make sure the kids in this part of Vellore can read and write properly. It is a quiet life on Perumal Koil Street. We do not make much noise except for the kids playing outside. It is just a simple school doing simple things every day for the community.
