Nag Vidhyasharam Senior Secondary School

The school is located right off the Chennai Bangalore National Highway in Sumaithangi. Being near the highway means we hear the trucks and buses going by all day long. It is a bit loud but you get used to it after a week or two. Vellore has a specific kind of heat that stays with you, so we make sure the rooms have enough air. Nag Vidhyasharam Senior Secondary School has been part of this landscape for some time. In the mornings, you see the yellow buses pulling in and the kids jumping out with their heavy bags. The area around Sumaithangi is mostly open ground and some small shops. We spend a lot of time walking across the campus between the different buildings. The staff room is usually a bit messy with books and lunch boxes everywhere. We don’t really have a big corporate feel here, it is more like a big family that happens to be at a school. Parents stop by the gate to chat with the watchman or drop off a forgotten water bottle. The highway is always busy, connecting the big cities, and we are just right there on the edge of it. Sometimes when it rains, the ground gets a bit muddy but the kids don't seem to mind. It is just a regular school day for us most of the time, keeping things running and making sure everyone is where they should be.
