Out here in Tirupattur, things move at a bit of a slower pace compared to the big cities. We are located right here in the Vellore district and the school has become a landmark of sorts for the people living nearby. It is a large campus. You can see the kids running around on the fields even from the main road. The weather here can get quite dry and hot so we have a few trees scattered around to give some relief. I usually start my day checking if the water tanks are full and if the classrooms are opened up for the morning air. We have a lot of students who travel from the smaller villages nearby. You see the yellow buses pulling in every morning, covered in a bit of dust from the roads. It is a long day for most of the staff and the children. We try to keep things organized but with so many kids there is always something that needs fixing or a room that needs a quick sweep. We do not really do anything flashy. It is just about getting through the lessons and making sure everyone is safe until the bell rings at the end of the day. The local community knows us well and we often have parents coming in to chat about their children’s progress or just to say hello. It is a busy, dusty, but good place to be.
