Vikram Carpet Co.

Vikram Carpet Co. is located right near the Ram Sajeevan Lal Inter College in Khamaria. Being so close to the college means we hear the school bell ring several times a day and see the kids walking home in the afternoon. It gives the area a bit of life. Our facility is mostly dedicated to the carpets we handle. Khamaria is known for this kind of work, and we are just one part of that local tradition. The building is large and open to keep it airy, which is necessary when you are dealing with so much wool and fabric. There is always a layer of fine lint on the surfaces, no matter how much we sweep. We have a small area where we sit to talk to visitors, usually just some plastic chairs and a table with a tray for water. The roof is made of corrugated sheets, so when it rains, it gets really loud inside and you have to shout to be heard. We don't have any fancy marketing people or a glossy brochure. We just show people what we have on the floor. Most of our neighbors are also in the trade, so we all know each other. It’s a community of workers. We spend our days rolling and unrolling heavy pieces, checking patterns, and making sure everything is tagged correctly before it leaves the gates.
