Jitendra & Shradha

Being over here near Paharia Mandi in Varanasi means there is always something going on. Our house is Sa 4/668 in Daulat Pur, and that’s where we run everything from. It isn’t like those big offices you see in the city center. It’s just a home where we keep all our supplies and meet people. Varanasi streets are tight, so getting things in and out can be a real headache sometimes. We spend a lot of time on the phone or walking over to the mandi to check on things. There is a lot of noise from the market nearby, especially in the early mornings. We have piles of decorative items in the corner of the room. Shradha usually handles the lists while Jitendra is out visiting the sites or talking to the workers. It’s a lot of running around. We drink a lot of chai while looking at calendars and figuring out the dates. The neighbors see us hauling bags of stuff all the time. It’s just us two mostly, trying to keep everything organized. Some nights we are up late finishing some work on a laptop or just sorting through photos of the setups we did. It’s quiet in the house once the market shuts down, which is nice. We have been doing this from home for quite a while now. It is a lot of work, but we are used to the pace of the city.
