Salam Carpets

Salam Carpets. Our shop is right in the middle of Nai Bazar, over by the Eidgah side. If you know the area, you know it gets busy, especially on certain days of the week. There is always a lot of noise from the street, people calling out and vehicles moving through the narrow lanes. We have been sitting here among the rugs and carpets for years. The space isn't huge, but we pack a lot into it. Every morning we sweep the front and get things ready for whoever might stop by. It’s dusty work, and our hands are usually a bit rough from handling the heavy materials all day long. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us who know where everything is kept. If someone asks for a specific pattern or color, we usually have to dig through a few piles to find it. The Eidgah is a good landmark for people trying to find us for the first time. We don't spend much time on the computer or doing paperwork, most of our day is spent on our feet. The carpets come from different places and they all have their own smell and weight. It’s a simple life here in the bazar. We don’t try to be something we’re not, we just sell what we have and go home when the sun goes down.
