U.P. Cottage Emporium

Dashaswamedh is a very crowded place. Our address is D.5/68 in the Tripura Bhairawi area. If you know Varanasi, you know how these narrow lanes are. We are right in the middle of all that noise and the smell of incense. Most mornings, we walk through the small alleys to get to the shop. There are so many people walking towards the river for the morning prayers. The building we are in is old, like everything else around here. You have to look for the door number D.5/68. It is not a big fancy office, just a place where we keep things organized and handle the daily tasks. The walls have that old stone feel and the stairs are a bit narrow. We hear the bells from the temples all day long. Sometimes it gets so crowded outside that you can barely move, but that is just Dashaswamedh for you. We keep a small stool outside sometimes when it is not too busy. The neighbors are mostly other shopkeepers who have been here for decades. We talk about the weather or how many tourists are in town today. It is a simple life. We do not have much room for a big sign or anything, so people usually find us by asking the locals. It stays cool inside the thick walls even when the sun is hitting the street hard. We just go about our business day by day at U.P. Cottage Emporium.
