Being out here in Marhauli Bhoolanpur, things feel a bit different than the center of town. St Johns School has been sitting here for a while. If you walk past in the morning, you’ll see the kids arriving on cycles or being dropped off near the entrance. It gets a bit dusty when the wind picks up, but that’s just how it is in this part of Bhoolanpur. We don’t have those big glass buildings you see in the city. Our place is more about the concrete and the trees we’ve managed to grow over the years. The teachers usually get here before the sun is too high. We have a routine that hasn’t changed much since I can remember. You walk through the halls and you might hear someone reciting a poem or a teacher scolding a student for being late. It’s just a normal school day, really. We spend time fixing up the benches or making sure the drinking water area is clean. Sometimes the rain makes the ground a bit muddy, but the kids don't seem to mind it much. We just keep things moving along. It’s a quiet life most of the time, except when the bell rings for lunch and everyone rushes out at once. We’re just a part of the Marhauli community, doing what we’ve always done. You get used to the sounds of the neighborhood and the local traffic passing by the main gates every single day of the week.
