Sarvodaya Shiksha Sadan Inter College

Down in Lokmanpur, specifically in the Handia area of Allahabad, things are pretty grounded. Sarvodaya Shiksha Sadan Inter College is tucked away there, serving the local families in Baraut and the nearby villages. It’s a basic school building with several classrooms that see a lot of use. The playground is mostly dirt, but the kids don’t seem to mind when they’re running around during the breaks. We have a small staff room where we keep the registers and have our tea. It’s not a fancy place by any means. The paint is peeling in a few spots and the bells are rung by hand. It’s a very local operation. Most of the teachers have been here for years and know the parents by name. We deal with the usual stuff like broken windows or running out of chalk. Life here follows the seasons. When it’s harvest time, the attendance drops a bit, then picks back up. We don't have air conditioning, so we rely on the breeze and the old ceiling fans that click as they spin. It’s a place for education without any of the extra drama or expensive stuff. We just want the kids to have a spot where they can read and write. It feels right being part of this community in Allahabad. It’s noisy, dusty, and full of life most days of the week, just like any other local school.
