Gyan Sarovar National Academy School

Sajoi is a quiet spot near Varanasi, and that’s where you’ll find the Gyan Sarovar National Academy School building. It’s not a huge place, but we have enough room for the kids from the nearby villages and neighborhoods to come and sit for their lessons. The road leading up to the school isn't always the smoothest, but it gets us here. We spend a lot of time just keeping things running, like making sure the water coolers are filled and the benches are in the right spots. The teachers here are local folks who know the families, so it feels more like a community than a big institution. You’ll see the kids playing out in the open area during lunch, mostly just running around and making a lot of noise. We don’t have the shiny facilities you see in big cities, but the classrooms are decent and they stay cool enough under the fans. There’s always a bit of dust because of the open fields around us, but that’s just part of being in this area. We have a small office where most of the paperwork happens, and it’s usually piled high with notebooks and attendance registers. People come to us because we’re right here in the neighborhood and they know what to expect. It’s a practical setup, focusing on the basics every day. We just open the doors, ring the bell, and get to work until it’s time to go home and start again tomorrow.
