Gurukul Montessori School

Varanasi is a very old and busy city, and our school is right in the Nati Imli area. We have been working with young children here for a good while. Being a Montessori school, we have lots of different blocks and toys for the kids to use, but we do it in our own local way. The building is tucked into the neighborhood, and it feels more like a home than a big institution. You can hear the sounds of the street outside, but inside we try to keep things focused on what the children are doing. The 221001 zip code is right in the heart of things. We have small chairs and tables that fit the little ones. Our teachers are mostly women from the local area who have a lot of patience. It gets very hot in Varanasi, so we try to keep the rooms as cool as we can. We don't have a big fancy website or anyone writing polished stories about us. If you come by, you’ll just see kids playing and learning how to do things for themselves. It’s messy sometimes, and there is usually a bit of noise, but that is just how it is with children. We see parents at the gate every morning and afternoon, and we know most of them by name. It’s a simple life here in Nati Imli, and we are just happy to be a part of these kids' early years.
