Golden Public School

The road to Golden Public School in Dhannipur is always a bit busy with people and cycles. Lohta is like that, things are always moving and there is plenty of noise. Our building is a simple two-story structure with a small gate that needs a new coat of paint. Usually, in the mornings, you see the students walking down the lanes with their heavy bags. Most of them live just a few blocks away in the nearby streets. We have a small yard where the kids stand for the morning prayers. It gets quite loud because the sound bounces off the walls. The classrooms are basic, just desks and chairs and a cupboard for books. We have a few fans that hum quite loudly, especially in the humid months of Varanasi. Our teachers usually bring their lunch from home, and the smell of pickles and parathas fills the staff room at noon. It’s not a very fancy place, just a school for the local neighborhood kids. We deal with the usual problems like the electricity cutting out or the water pump acting up. The kids seem happy enough to run around during the break. We try to keep things organized, but with so many children, it’s always a little messy. That’s just how it goes here in the 221107 area. It’s a plain place for learning and growing up with your friends.
