We’ve been here at Amra Chauraha for a good while now. Gene Public School sits right on the Amra Awaleshpur Road, which gets quite busy in the mornings with everyone heading to work or dropping kids off. Most of us here grew up in or around Varanasi, so we know the area pretty well. The building itself isn't anything fancy, just a solid place where classes happen every day. We spend a lot of time just making sure the fans work and the desks stay in one piece. The kids come from the nearby neighborhoods, walking or taking the local rickshaws. During the lunch break, you can hear the noise from the street mixing with the kids playing out back. It’s loud, but that’s just how it is. We have a small staff room where we sit and talk about the day's lessons or what's happening in the city. The stairs get a bit dusty because of the road construction nearby, but we sweep them every morning before the first bell. It’s a simple setup. We don't have those big fancy glass walls you see in new offices. Just bricks, mortar, and plenty of notebooks. Sometimes the power goes out and we just open the windows wider to let the breeze in. It feels like a real part of the community here, seeing the same faces at the crossroads every single day. We are just local people running a local school.
