Khagariamaize Agro Producer Company Limited is based out of Navin Kumar Mahto’s place. House number 108 in Rani Sakarpura to be exact. It’s a busy spot in the village. As you can guess from the name, we deal a lot with maize. Around here, corn is a big deal. Every year, the fields turn yellow and we have a lot of work to do. We aren't a big fancy company with a website and a logo on everything. We just have our names and this house where we meet. Navin is usually there to coordinate things. It gets a bit crowded when all the farmers show up at once. We talk about the harvest and how the market is looking. Some days are slow and we just sit around. Other days, like during the harvest, it’s non-stop. We don't have fancy titles. I’m just one of the guys working here. We try to make sure the maize from our block gets noticed. It’s a lot of manual labor, carrying sacks and checking the quality of the kernels. We worry about the rain and the heat just like everyone else. There's no secret to what we do. We just work hard and hope for a decent return. If you ever pass through Rani Sakarpura, you’ll see our piles of grain. It’s a simple life, but it’s ours. We don't do much marketing because people around here already know where to find us for their corn needs.
